Executive Director Liz Forbrich Retires

YWCA Lake County Executive Director Elizabeth Forbrich is retiring after a remarkable 15-year tenure that saw tremendous growth for the organization, expansion of services to the community and a strengthened commitment to the YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism, empowering women. Her leadership has had a tremendous impact on the 18,000 Lake County women, girls and families
served annually

     Financial Forum Promotes Economic Self-Sufficiency

As part of its mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, the YWCA Lake County's Women’s Economic Advancement Program is offering the third of its popular Financial Forums on Monday, November 1, 2010 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the YWCA Lake County main office, 2133 Belvidere Road, Waukegan. >Continued 

Volunteers Provide Warmth and Security
to Moms and Families 

Whether it takes the chill off a cold winter night or provides special comfort to a child, blankets are a time-honored symbol of warmth and security. This year, several groups of YWCA volunteers are making sure young mothers and families in Lake County receive handmade blankets. >Continued

 


YWCA Breast Cancer Memorial Honored
and Celebrated Special Individuals
ENCOREplus® in Cooperation with Midwestern Regional Medical Center Hosted Special Observance for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Survival, loss, strength, pain, love and faith—these were the themes of the day as people gathered Oct. 15 at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion to honor family and friends lost to breast cancer, and celebrate those who have survived. >Continued 

 

Lights On!

YWCA Lake County's North Chicago School Age Program celebrated its 10th Anniversary of providing a safe, educational environment after school for kids in the North Chicago community. The celebration included dance selections, short skits and parent testimonials.

Do you love working with kids? Join the YWCA  Lake County's Rapid Readers Volunteer Program and read to children ages 5-9 years. Help children identify letters, words and phrases, as well as work on story comprehension. Thirty minute shifts available. For more information, contact Davina Martin at
