FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

YWCA Evanston/North Shore is honored by NAACP

The NAACP Evanston-North Shore branch honored the work of the YWCA Evanston/North Shore for their “contributions to community life in Evanston” at a ceremony on Saturday evening at the Hilton Garden Inn in Evanston. The NAACP particularly recognized the YWCA for their work in assisting women and children who are victims of domestic violence.

The YWCA operates a domestic violence shelter, Mary Lou’s Place, for women and their children. In addition, they operate a 24-hour crisis line, provide walk-in and bilingual counseling services for non-residential clients, and offer transitional housing and court advocacy programs for women who have experienced domestic violence.
