Just For Girls News:
Requests for the Just For Girls program from multiple schools has the YWCA offering the program 7 times a week!

The YWCA's flagship program Just For Girls has started up with the commencement of the Pasadena Unified School District school year.  Program team Jasmine Guerrero, Denise Ramos and Ashley Phillips are facilitating 7 sessions a week with the possibility of two additional opportunities in coming months.

For over 10 years, this after-school program has helped girls become strong in mind, body and spirit. Taking place throughout the school year on Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) campuses and at the YWCA and under the guidance of trained mentors, it gives its participants a place to dream big, explore new ideas, develop relationships and self-confidence, learn new skills and just talk. It also provides a safe space to talk about violence avoidance, body image, peer and family communication, sex education, and other issues in their lives. Fun is part of the curriculum but the ultimate goal is to make its participants see a productive future for themselves.

Program Assistant, Denise Ramos personally knows the influence and effect the the Just For Girls program has on ones life. Denise was one of the original participants in 1997 when the program began by simply knocking on doors and inviting girls to be a part of something different and to belong to something positive. The YWCA continues to be dedicated to the lives of these young girls and appreciates your support as it empowers us to empower you!
