3. Can you run with a stroller?

4. Can a handicap scooter be used in the walk?

Yes, as long as you line up behind runners and fast walkers at the start line and you stay in the designated area for walkers. return to top

5. Can you run with a dog?

No. For the safety of both runners and pets, dogs are not permitted on the race course or on the field. return to top

6. Can you run with headphones?

The use of headphones is strongly discouraged on road races, both for your safety and the safety and consideration of other participants. With headphones on, you may not be able to hear vital instructions and are not as aware of runners around you. return to top

7. Where is the Start and Finish of the Race?

The Race starts and ends at Long Field on the campus of Northwestern University, at the corner of Sheridan Road and Lincoln Street in Evanston. A portion of the course route on Northwestern's campus is currently under construction, so the 10K route is likely to change. It will be recertified in early June and an updated course map will be provided on this site at that time . The 5K route has not changed, and the Youth Mile is an out and back route from Long Field to Library Place and back. Links to updated maps are below:

10. Is the Course USATF certified?

The 5K course was recertified in 2012 and the 10K course will be recertified at the beginning of June 2014. The 5K course runs out-and-back along Evanston's lakefront between Lincoln/Sheridan and Greenwood/Sheridan. It is a flat and fast race course!

The 10K course is an out and back run that follows the 5K, but continues south before heading north along the lakefront through Northwestern University campus, then turning south on Sheridan before looping back to finish at the start/finish line.

Because we will have to wait to determine what changes had to be made to the 10K course this year due to ongoing construction on the Northwestern campus, the 10K USATF certification number may not appear on their website until after Race Day.

The Youth Mile is an out-and-back course along the same route with a turnaround point at Library Place and Sheridan Road.

Course maps are available at packet pick-up, on this site closer to Race Day, and in the volunteer/information tent on Race Day. return to top

11. Is the race a CARA certified race?

No, we have not sought CARA certification. return to top

All miles are marked. Digital display clocks are located at every mile and at the Finish Line. return to top

13. Is chip timing used?

Yes, the race will be timed by Championchip timing. Only runners are timed by chips. Walkers who want chip timing should sign up as runners and then just walk the course.

If you come to pre-race packet pick up, REMEMBER to bring the chip along with your number (do not remove chip from number) to the race with you. return to top
