Volunteer Opportunities
The YWCA Greater Lafayette offers many volunteer opportunities:
- Cleaning or doing yard work (scheduled as needed)
Applicable to all YWCA departments
- Assisting with children’s programming in the evening
Domestic Violence Intervention and Prevention Program
- Helping with the Welcome Desk on the last Tuesday of the month
Women’s Cancer Program
- Answering the domestic violence crisis hotline (operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week)
Domestic Violence Intervention and Prevention Program
- Answering phones, sharing program information, filing, and copying
Applicable to all YWCA departments
- Helping with 9-1-1 cell phones, creating e-mail distribution lists, and handing out information
Domestic Violence Intervention and Prevention Program
- Working with Spanish-speaking clients and translating documents
Domestic Violence Intervention and Prevention Program
- Helping with outreach at community fairs and other events
Applicable to all YWCA departments
- Processing mail (labeling, stuffing, sealing, folding, etc.). Often these volunteers are needed on short notice. Times/days will vary.
Welcome Desk
- Serving on an event committee (for example, helping to plan and implement Salute to Women, Clay Bowl Giving Project, Holiday Bingo & Silent Auction, or Network Luncheon Series)
