Response YWCA Mission. . .
Sexual violence affects hundreds of thousands of people every year. Response is the sexual assault crisis agency serving the South Hampton Roads community since 1975.
Our mission is to provide support, counseling, and advocacy to women, men and children victimized by sexual assault.
Response seeks to promote zero-tolerance of sexual violence. As a non-profit agency, we provide our crisis counseling free of charge to all regardless of gender, race, orientation, age, religion, and income.
Response provides non-crisis counseling in which services are charged for on a sliding scale dependent upon income.

YWCA Response currently runs four support groups:
- Domestic and Interpersonal Violence Support Group,
- Interpersonal Process Group for Women
- Teen Support Group for Victims of Interpersonal Violence
- Support Group for Survivors of Sexual Assault
