Girls Empowerment Summer Camp
Summer camp is a special time in a young person's life, especially for girls. The YWCA Girls Empowerment Camp provides girls age 10 to 17 with exciting field trips, team building activities, educational workshops, college tours, and ultimately, a fun experience for all who attend!
The Girls Empowerment Summer Camp runs Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, from June 30th to August 8th. Our camp builds self-esteem and new friendships, explores new ideas, develops fresh skills, and empowers girls to dream big. We provide countless activities based on several components: physical, emotional, spiritual, environmental, intellectual and social wellness to provide a well rounded experience for the girls.
New!! Tentative Summer Camp Schedule
.... EXPANDS THE REALM OF POSSIBILITY FOR GIRLS 10 - 17
Campers will be able to see what lies beyond their own community by touring businesses and establishments of higher education to help them determine their career goals and the paths they can take to get there. We have also partnered with Huntington Library and Gardens for hands-on experience with the master gardener, and includes garden-to-table cooking lessons with local chefs. Senior high school girls will practice interacting in a professional setting and learn public speaking skills in a specially-designed docent training for one of the Huntington's art exhibits.
.... HELPS THEM CHART THE COURSE TO THEIR GOALS
Once the girls have established what their goals are, they will then create a plan to reach those goals; such as how to choose the right university, school or college for their needs, what classes to take in order to get there, and how to finance their education.
.... DEVELOPS THE NECESSARY TOOLS TO REACH THEIR POTENTIAL
Our participants will also gain the tips and tools to develop into responsible adults, including personal finances, nutrition, health, and fitness. Summer camp includes workshops on how to recognize bullying, cope with family problems, and developing healthy interpersonal relationships.
.... IDENTIFIES COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Campers will also learn to identify how they contribute to their community through service projects with local organizations, as well as how community resources can assist them on their journey into adulthood.
.... GIVES THEM THE CONFIDENCE TO REACH THEIR GOALS
Our goal at the YWCA Pasadena is to empower our summer camp girls to believe that anything they strive to do is possible. We will also encourage them to overcome low self-esteem, depression, body image issues, and socioeconomic struggles so they can achieve confidence in all aspects of their lives.
