Week Without Violence
This year's Week Without Violence is Oct. 17 - 21.
Together, we can end gender-based violence.
Words That Heal
5 to 6 p.m.
YWCA and YSU students from the YSU chapter of NOW, SLAA, and Sisters With a Vision are partnering to offer a look at gender-based violence and its impact on women, their families, and their community. Students will read pieces that have impacted their lives and share their gender-based violence experiences.
YWCA is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families, and strengthen communities. That's why for more than 20 years, we have set aside one week in October as a Week Without Violence. Week Without Violence is part of a global movement to end violence against women and girls with the World YWCA. This year, we are focusing on ending gender-based violence. Gender-based violence recognizes a spectrum of violence, including but not limited to, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, trafficking, and harassment. At YWCA, we know that not all violence is acknowledged or responded to equally and that some victims go unrecognized altogether.
