YWCA Pasadena-Foothill Valley

Events

Week Without Violence: During the third week of every October, the YWCA Pasadena-Foothill Valley hosts the annual Week Without Violence. Partnering with many other local non-profit and city agencies, we organize a week-long series of events that showcase or demonstrate alternatives to family violence, gun violence and violence linked to racism and prejudice. The campaign challenges and inspires people to bring life a vision of the future where all people are free to live with peace, respect and opportunity.

Women for Racial Justice Breakfast: The Women for Racial Justice Breakfast was established in an effort to exemplify the YWCA's mission of eliminating racism and empowering women. The event is envisioned as a way to focus on our diversity and to better understand the experiences of others from various cultural backgrounds. The hope is that we are able to celebrate and embrace what is special about our differences rather than seeing differences as a barrier. This breakfast brings together over 500 Pasadena community leaders to honor a business, organization or individual that has demonstrated a commitment to eliminating racism and promoting racial equality.

Women's Leadership & Networking Day: Are you a woman interested in developing or expanding your leadership skills while building your professional network? Are you interested in developing your leadership skills from diverse cultural/ethnic perspectives? Join us each Spring for an exciting day of leadership development and networking, featuring speakers discussing various aspects of women's leadership. The goal of the event is to promote cultural and ethnic diversity in women's leadership.

Talking the Talk: The Talking the Talk series is a moderated town hall style forum where the community can come together to discuss events and topics of importance to them. These topics are often issues that have affected the nation, or Pasadena in particular . This series seeks to take these often controversial events and allow the community to discuss them in a manner that is solution focused and as conflict free as possible.
