While local YWCA Associations are our primary internal partners, the YWCA USA also creates strong connections with external organizations of influence and affluence to help us advance our work to empower women and eliminate racism, both nationally and locally. Our Team of Partners

The Allstate Foundation: To build awareness during Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, and all year round, the Allstate Foundation and the YWCA USA work together on the Purple Purse Campaign. First launched in 2011, Purple Purse aims to spark life-changing conversations about domestic violence, so that communities all over the U.S. are safer places to live. Now in its third year, the Allstate Foundation’s Purple Purse campaign has successfully donated $350,000 to the YWCA for programs designed to assist and empower survivors of domestic violence.

First Book: The YWCA USA has partnered with First Book, which is a national nonprofit organization that provides access to high-quality, free and low-cost books for programs and schools who serve children in need. First Book has distributed over 100 million new books to schools and community programs serving children from low-income families. First Book is generously providing YWCA local associations with the opportunity to participate in their two book programs, First Book National Book Bank and First Book Marketplace.

Stop. Think. Connect™: To raise awareness about cybersecurity, cyberbullying and online safety issues nationwide, the YWCA USA has partnered with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Stop.Think.Connect campaign. Stop. Think. Connect is a global cybersecurity awareness campaign that works to help all digital citizens stay safer and more secure online. Their goal is to help people understand not only the risks that come with using the Internet, but also the importance of practicing safe online behavior. The partnership began three years ago with an event at the William E. Doar, Jr. Public Charter School for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. At this event, representatives from the YWCA and DHS reached out to approximately 100 elementary school students, their teachers and parents to share the importance of online safety.

United States Olympic Committee: Since its inception, the YWCA USA has been a Council member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), as a Multi-Sport Organization (MSO). The USOC orchestrates a variety of community outreach and education programs to ensure that U.S. athletes stay active and engaged in sport from the beginner stages to the elite level. These programs range from athlete outreach opportunities to partnerships with community sport organizations and the annual Olympic Day celebration, which promotes Olympic ideals in addition to overall fitness and well-being.

Million Women Mentors: During National Mentoring Month in January, YWCA USA is a strategic partner with Million Women Mentors. Million Women Mentors is an initiative of STEMconnector® in collaboration with over 30 leading national organizations. The goal of the initiative is to engage one million science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) mentors to increase the interest and confidence of girls and young women in STEM programs and careers.
