Director of Maternal & Infant Health |
FUNCTION: Plan, coordinate, and implement all aspects of the YWCA Maternal & Infant Health home visiting programs. Manage women’s empowerment programming and maternal, infant, and children’s health programming and public policy. Serve as representative of YWCA during collaboration with community partners. Provide leadership to internal Cradle Kalamazoo essential personnel.
1. Master's degree in human services related field (i.e. MSW, MPH, MPP) required. Certification or appropriate license in related field also required.
2. Five years’ experience working in non-profit organization required. Previous experience managing staff, developing strategy and policies, coordinating special event programming is also required.
3. Four years’ experience managing and leading collective impact strategy and initiatives.
4. Two years’ experience in public health theory/practices and understanding of community health care systems and maternal infant health programming.
5. Proven success in project/program management, demonstrated ability to organize systems, follow routines, and respond to change as needed.
6. Effective oral and written communication skills.
7. Ability to initiate and cooperate, working alone or with a team. Demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
8. Able to make sound decisions and respond capably in stressful situations, and to understand and work within organizational structure, customs, practices, policies and procedures.
9. Demonstrated understanding of women’s health and empowerment issues.

1. Build community partnerships to expand Maternal & Infant Health Programs.
2. Oversee operations, develop strategies, provide oversight, and support work-load of staff and independent contractors for existing programs such as Maternal Infant Health Program, Women & Infant Supportive Help Program, and Cradle Kalamazoo Initiative.
3. Provide direct services as needed to program participants.
4. Support relationships with the state representatives to support Infant Mortality collaborative work in Kalamazoo to increase support, funding, and access to data.
5. Work with community members and organizations to examine social, economic, cultural, safety and health system factors associated with fetal/infant mortality and child health.
6. Manage mission focused special projects.
7. Manage, develop, and report project timelines, goals, implementation, and expenses according to the strategic and operational plans.
8. Oversee program contracts, grants and guidelines. Maintains all aspects of programs to abide by regulations. Manages all reviews and audits.
9. Works collaboratively with other department directors as part of the management team. Provide support and expertise wherever needed in the planning, implementation, and evaluation phases of YWCA Kalamazoo policies and programs.
10. Safeguard confidential information gained as a result of the position. Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, good judgment, tact, personal integrity, poise and ability to manage and prioritize in a multiple-demand position.
11. Comply with applicable local, state and federal licensing requirements/certification and/or regulations.
12. Remain flexible and manage changing priorities on a continuing basis.
13. Know and adhere to Association policies, procedures and practices and be able to communicate the same to others as needed.
14. Comply with Association policy regarding required reporting of child abuse.
15. As a YWCA employee, project a positive image of the Association and its programs to the community, the Association, and the program.
16. Work cooperatively with program participants, YWCA staff, and volunteers.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.

2. Appropriate training and in-service which will occur during employment.
HOURS OF WORK: Full time. Flexible as a response to program needs and as arranged with supervisor.
STARTING WAGE RANGE: Based on Experience
