Therapist: Sexual Assault/Intimate Partner Violence |
FUNCTION: Provides assessment and recuperative services in the forms of individual and group counseling and education. Generates appropriate documentation regarding and acts to coordinate community services for victims traumatized by sexual assault and/or intimate partner violence.
1. Masterís degree in psychology, social work, or closely related field required. Specific training in child sexual abuse, intimate partner violence, or sexual assault is highly desired. Commensurate experience may be considered.
2. Two-years of direct, clinical experience (may include internships) required.
3. Certification or licensure in the State of Michigan, or eligibility thereof preferred.
4. A working knowledge of basic psychological theory, which may include but not be limited to: trauma resolution, systems theory, crisis management, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills, with a willingness to work from a team perspective in treatment provisions.
6. Ability to manage stressful situations, i.e. client crisis, multiple and simultaneous duties, critical decision-making, and court testimony.
7. Capability to sustain performance during consecutive treatment sessions, report writing, and document review.
8. Able to set priorities and fulfill responsibilities either individually or as part of a team.
9. Able to make sound decisions and respond capably in crisis situations.
10. Able to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
11. Satisfactory response to criminal and child abuse and neglect history background checks.
12. A valid driverís license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle expected.
13. CPR and First Aid certification required.
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.
1. Provides direct counseling services to clients of YWCA Kalamazoo programming which includes but may not be limited to: assessment; individual, and group counseling; and educational classes.
2. Maintains up-to-date records of client contact as prescribed by the agency, including but not limited to: progress notes; quarterly reports; and assessment summaries.
3. Coordinates services with other referring agencies.
4. Participates regularly in supervision, which may include, but is not limited to: group consultation and individual supervision.
5. Provide direct services to program participants as needed.
6. Participates in team and staff meetings.
7. Maintain program participant and program records, collect statistics and submit reports as required to the Association, e.g. the YWCA National Board, funding and licensing sources.
8. Safeguard confidential information gained as a result of the job.
9. Comply with applicable local, state and federal licensing requirements/certification and/or regulations.
10. Comply with Association policy regarding required reporting of child abuse, elder abuse, suicide and homicide.
11. As a YWCA employee, project a positive image of the Association and its programs to the community, the Association and the program.
12. Work cooperatively with program participants, YWCA staff and volunteers.
13. This position does not supervise volunteers or staff.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
1. Familiarization with YWCA Personnel Policies and Mission.
2. Appropriate training and in-service which will occur during employment.
HOURS OF WORK: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Flexible as a response to program needs and as arranged with supervisor.
STARTING WAGE RANGE: $18.00-20.00
