Desiree Hoffman, Director of Advocacy and Policy
Desiree brings more than a decade of legislative and advocacy experience to the YWCA. Her areas of expertise include: coalition building, grassroots organizing, lobbying, policy analysis and voter mobilization.
Prior to joining the YWCA USA, Desiree served as the Assistant Director of Legislation at the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), where she coordinated with a team of policy analysts and strategists to implement field and congressional strategy on legislative priorities, such as the passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to provide quality, affordable and accessible health care for all. Desiree has served as a liaison for numerous Congressional Caucuses, including the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Women’s Caucus, Progressive Caucus and the Black Caucus.
A graduate of George Washington University with a master’s degree in Public Policy and Women’s Studies, Desiree is a native of Pennsylvania. She and her son, Jace, live in Washington, D.C.
