Evanston/North Shore

Women's Empowerment

YWCA Evanston/North Shore is committed to making our communities places in which women and girls can thrive. We focus on providing opportunities to become empowered, confident and competent through education, engagement and recognition.

  • Basic Money Management classes and workshops help women develop their financial literacy -- because without economic empowerment, women do not have the ability to live independent, self-sufficient, empowered lives.
  • Our Women's Film Series offers an opportunity to build awareness, engagement and advocacy around issues relevant to women and girls around the world and in our own communities.
  • YWCA's urban garden and healthy cooking classes educate and inform women about healthful and affordable eating through fresh, locally grown foods.
  • Our annual celebration of International Women's Day provides an opportunity for our communities to join with millions across our globe to collectively reflect on the economic, political and social progress women have made both globally and locally.
  • The YWomen Leadership Awards, held each October, recognize the extraordinary women from our community who use their leadership skills to advance racial justice and women’s empowerment.
