Welcome to our new COO: Kristen White
Kristen White, the YWCA Evanston/North Shore’s new Chief Operating Officer, began her work this past August, and has already immersed herself in the many aspects of what the YWCA has to offer. While her job focuses on overseeing numerous programs of the YWCA, it is really supporting the program staff that appeals to her most. “I will be overseeing a handful of programs and collaborating with those directors on their work,” said Kristen. “I’ll be supporting Racial Justice, Women's Empowerment, Financial Literacy, Aquatics, and eventually Domestic Violence. I’ll work with those directors to help them plan for the future, problem solve, and systematically evaluate the impact of what we do.”
Kristen’s passion and talent for problem solving is one of the many reasons that the COO position at the YWCA Evanston/North Shore was a good fit for her. “I was Director of Community Schools at Children’s Home + Aid, a statewide social service agency, and I worked with a number of Chicago Public Schools to enhance their capacity and to meet the needs of students in low income communities,” said Kristen. Many of her past positions were in the nonprofit sector in education and social services, where she found ways to make those programs better for the people they served.
Working at the YWCA Evanston/North Shore also allows her to contribute to the Evanston community, her home for 11 years. “I’m looking forward to getting more deeply engaged in my community, the community in which I live and have a family,” said Kristen. “It’s exciting being a part of an organization that’s so well respected, working with CEO Karen Singer and the vision she has for the organization, and contributing to that. The work that we do really makes a difference in our community.”
Please join us in welcoming Kristen to the YWCA Evanston/North Shore!
