Karen Singer
President & CEO

 

Karen Singer, now in her 13th year as CEO, has more than doubled the size of the organization and grown the revenue base to support and sustain the growing programs and staff. Prior to joining the YWCA Evanston/North Shore in 2004, she worked over thirty years in Chicago and New York on domestic violence issues, homelesseness and housing, and other social justice issues. After founding Housing Opportunities for Women (HOW) in 1983, the first housing program for homeless women in Chicago, she has spent decades developing housing and services for special needs populations. 

Kristen White
Chief Operating Officer

Kristen White joined the YWCA as COO in August 2014. Her experience includes more than 18 years in the nonprofit sector working on issues of educational equity and family educational supports nationally, regionally, and in Chicago. Before joining the YWCA Evanston/North Shore, she launched a business serving families with young children. Prior to that, Ms. White held a leadership position at Children’s Home & Aid, building a nationally recognized community schools program serving schools across Chicagoland.

Renee Brownlee
Chief Financial Officer

Renee Poole Brownlee, joined the YWCA Evanston/North Shore as CFO in April 2015. She has held leadership positions at organizations in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. Before joining the YWCA Evanston/North Shore she was on the senior management team at Rotary International, holding positions in both finance and operations.
