Description
Paint the Town Orange 2009
“Supergirls Speak Out”
Featuring Keynote Speaker Liz Funk, author of Supergirls Speak Out: Inside the Secret Crisis of Overachieving Girls
Plan to attend Paint the Town Orange 2009, a benefit for YWCA Omaha, and learn more about the “Supergirl” phenomenon affecting young women and little girls. Liz Funk will talk about the pressure on young women to be perfect. Today’s limiting-and-demanding “female ideal” has taught young women to believe that in order to be happy, they must have the best grades, excel at their jobs, wear the coolest clothes and have the perfect body size. Supergirls not only compete against everyone else, but themselves – a destructive habit that leads to depression and other emotional disorders.
Liz Funk will provide insight about what we can do to help young women lead healthier, happier lives.
By attending this event, you’ll be supporting the YWCA Omaha and its mission of helping Omaha women and their families build lives of strength, growth and stability.
This event is for females of most ages (10+)
