YWCA Youth Development Services
YWCA's Youth Development programs have been enhancing the lives of St. Louis families for more than 50 years through an array of youth development and wellness services. The community has depended on our before- and after-school care programs for decades. Two of the branch's break-through program, Challenges Unlimited, meets the needs of diverse populations; and a new pilot program, RISE, promises to enhance the educational achievements of children.
RISE
Reaching Independence through Support and Enrichment (RISE) is a new comprehensive after-school program that incorporates academics, nutrition, community involvement, emotional and character-building and parent engagement to support children's growth and learning. It is a collaborative pilot program between YWCA and the Family Resource Center, and is supported by the St. Louis Mental Health Board and the St. Louis Public Schools. The program is designed to increase children's motivation to learn while simultaneously enhancing literacy and social skills.
SCHOOL AGE CHILDCARE
Serving children ages 5 through 12 with an integrated approach to the health and wellness of youth with opportunities for homework assistance, crafts and physical fitness. The before and after school program provides transportation to and from select area schools. The program is licensed through the Missouri Department of Heath and Accredited through Stephens College. Specialty camps are offered during holidays and days of school. The program is contracted with the Division of Family Services.
CHALLENGES UNLIMITED
Dedicated to supporting adult individuals with developmental disabilities to enhance independence while promoting social and physical well being at home and in the community. The CU staff is committed to supporting individual choice and personal responsibility through fitness, recreation and social services for all Challenges Unlimited members.
