women's leadership initiative advisory council

Purpose

• To propel professional women in Cleveland to greater career success by raising their awareness of skills required, providing advice about how to develop those skills and connecting younger women with executives.
• To provide financial support for YWCA programs that are critical for the vitality of women and their families in Cleveland.

Professional Requirements

• We are looking for emerging and experienced leaders who seek an opportunity to get involved, meet new people and showcase your expertise in front of your peers.
• You are educated, ambitious and connected. and would like the advice you need to climb the career ladder higher and faster.

Participation Requirements

• Attend and participate in meetings of the Advisory Council (4 meetings and 2 social events per year).
• Examine the performance and provide an ongoing critique of the workshop schedule, topics and format and identity areas for the Initiative's development.
• Offer insight into the tools our participants need to climb their career ladders faster and further.
• Commit to accomplishing the work of the Women's Leadership Initiative which is to propel professional women in Cleveland to greater career success.
• Assist in efforts to recruit women to participate and attend Women's Leadership Initiative programs.
• Recruit women for YWCA membership
• Council members are strongly encouraged to meet with at least two corporate human resource departments throughout the term to share the benefits of the Initiative and encourage participation in the Initiative.
• Keep your YWCA membership active ($100 per year).
• Pledge a suggested minimum contribution of $250.  (Dues are 100% tax deductible and may be made in one lump sum, or paid quarterly.)

Joining the Council

• Fill out the council application online or download the application and return to the YWCA no later than August 31.

• September 14, 2007: Contribution anticipation & membership activated
• September 19, 2007: Kick-off meeting (evening)
• November 5, 2007: Quarterly meeting
• January 23, 2008: Quarterly meeting
• March 26, 2008: Quarterly meeting
• May 20, 2008: Quarterly meeting
• June 25, 2008: Recruitment meeting (lunch
