my pledge to end violence against women

Mindful of the breadth and depth of violence against women and their families, and acknowledging that violence does not discriminate based on socioeconomic, class, age and racial and ethnic backgrounds

With conviction and hope I take this pledge

I pledge

• To rebuke language and actions which are degrading to women
• To discourage jokes and conversations that objectify women
• To expand my consciousness to be more aware of and sensitive to acts of violence against women, both overt and subtle.

I pledge

• To support women I know or meet who have been victims of violence in a non-judgmental manner

I pledge, within my means

• To support candidates for public service who publicly advocate for women and speak openly about ending violence
• To support the YWCA and other organizations working to end violence against women.
