Janis Okamoto joined Bank of Hawaii in 1992 as a Bank Associate and, since then, has held various positions of increasing responsibility throughout the company. Currently, Janis is a Vice President and Senior Risk Analyst in Private Banking. In this role, Janis works with the Private Bankers and their clients to provide customized credit solutions to meet their financial needs. Tight deadlines, complex situations, and changing needs all tend to make this a challenging and stressful job but, Janis makes it look easy with her quiet, steady leadership style. Janis’s dedication and commitment to the Bank, her coworkers, and her customers is evident day in and day out. Janis holds a BA in accounting from the University of Hawaii in Manoa. Janis and her husband Cori enjoys spending time with family, especially their young nephews, and traveling.

Rita Jugo is an Assistant Vice President and underwriter in Bank of Hawaii’s Commercial Credit Underwriting & Analysis Department, she evaluates credit risk and manages a portfolio for the Bank’s commercial clients with a particular focus on companies located on Guam and the island of Hawaii. Rita was raised in Guam, obtained her BS from Santa Clara University, then joined Bank of Hawaii in Guam before relocating to Hawaii. As the sole member of the underwriting team with a West Pacific background, Rita brings valuable “local” knowledge and experience to support lending activities there. Rita serves as the voice for our clients and officers in that market. Rita takes this responsibility to heart and serves as a strong advocate for her constituents. Husband Gabriel and children, Miguel and Matteo, fill Rita’s spare time with family activities and soccer games. Rita is also a talented crafter and has taken many work friends through Chinatown in search of beads and baubles to fashion into beautiful one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces.

Linda Ho, Vice President and Senior Portfolio Management Officer on Bank of Hawaii’s Corporate Markets team has established herself as a leader and mentor for newer junior team members. Linda can also be depended upon to step up to help in any situation where she’s needed. This commitment and dedication are what make the difference for our staff and our customers. Linda joined the Bank in 2001 after earning her B.S. from the University of Southern California and her MBA from the University of Miami-Florida. When not at the Bank, Linda enjoys family time in Mililani with her husband, Tommy, and their two daughters, Gabrielle and Paige. Linda is also a rabid USC sports fan and is on the board of the local USC alumni association.

Paula Hamilton joined Bank of Hawaii in June of 2005 as Vice President and Manager of the Retail Credit Analytics and Reporting group. Since joining the company, she has done a tremendous job of building a very strong team whose reporting and analytical activities are instrumental in supporting the Bank’s retail lending activities. Prior to joining Bank of Hawaii, Paula was the Acquisition Channel Risk Manager for the BusinessLine Risk Management team at Wells Fargo in San Francisco. Paula has also become a part of the YWCA family, participating on the Loan Committee for the Ways to Work Program. Paula holds a BA in Economics from Ashland College and an MA in Applied Economics from San Francisco State University. She, her husband Ken and their son Benjamin have become weekend gymnasts. Paula has competed locally in a number of events at her gym.

The bank’s SBA Community Express Loan Program is an innovative program that provides technical assistance and SBA guaranteed loans to eligible companies that are owned by women, ethnic minorities or veterans, or located in a low-to-moderate income area. Our Women’s Business Central program is an exclusive program that helps novice entrepreneurs obtain vital information to start and maintain their businesses. Both programs were the first of their kind in the State and only a small sample of Gwen’s leadership abilities. She is a confident leader with a graciousness that immediately puts her clients at ease. She became the first woman in the bank’s history to head up a division, paving the way for other women to follow. Linda B. C. Fujitani is the Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer for the Credit Administration Division. When Linda began her career at First Hawaiian Bank in 1972, she was the first woman accepted into the bank’s prestigious Management Training Program. And today, she is the first woman to hold the top position of Chief Credit Officer, responsible for maintaining the bank’s credit quality. She leads by example, is very supportive of her staff’s career objectives, and is fair and objective in her decision-making. In her nearly 35 years at FHB, Linda has always sought ways to promote opportunities for women at the bank. She encourages women to take on new responsibilities even if it is a personal stretch and to look at challenges as opportunities to grow professionally and personally.

Robin Midkiff is the Executive Vice President and the Private Banking Segment. Robin, who has over 33 years of extensive banking, investment and trust experience, attributes her success to her ability to build credibility and trust with her clients. She was a pioneer during her day, working in the background to help City Mill become a retailing organization, while also working at her own family business, Garden House (on Piikoi Street). She is 90 years old and still comes into work every Thursday.

Lois is heralded by many colleagues as a great leader! Kristine Foster is the Financial Assistance Program Administrator for the State of Hawaii Department of Human Services. As a key leader in our State’s efforts to support and promote self-sufficient families, Kristine works tirelessly as a public servant and volunteer. She played an essential role in the establishment of YWCA’s Ways to Work program in 2001, and has since provided valuable insight as a founding member of the program’s loan review committee.

Heather Wallace is the Operations Supervisor for the YWCA’s Fernhurst Transitional Housing.
Heather’s leadership in the past year resulted in excellent results, including exceeding net profit goals by 7%. Promoted to her current position in mid-2006, she carries with her a clear vision of social entrepreneurship. Last year, Fernhurst housed 584 women and children, 64% of whom were
economically challenged.

Brenda Souza, is the Resident Assistant at the YWCA’s Fernhurst Transitional Housing. Brenda is consistently a strong role model for women. Being a single parent, she is a hard worker giving her all without question. She is a compassionate face when residents check in. She is a friend when residents need to laugh and a mother when they need a hug. She is a teacher, always encouraging Fernhurst residents to pursue their dreams and not to give up. In 2006, 80% of our residents reported a positive change in their lives while staying at Fernhurst.

Juanita Cabral is the Assistant Facilities Supervisor for the YWCA of O‘ahu. Juanita clearly lives YWCA’s mission of empowering women. Recently promoted to her current position supervising maintenance staff, she motivates and leads by example, and is often seen at Laniākea with a broom or mop in-hand. As the situation demands, she is strong, assertive, and compassionate.
