The YWCA's 32nd Annual LeaderLuncheon was a wonderful opportunity for 800 of our community members to gather and celebrate the extraordinary accomplishments of our women leaders. The day was filled with lei, well-wishes and congratulations. Our ten distinguished LeaderLuncheon Honorees included Dr. Erlinda Cachola, Suzanne Case, Anna Elento-Sneed, Signe Godfrey, Marsha Graham, Janice Kalanihuia, Melody K. MacKenzie, Diane Plotts, Dr. Virginia Pressler and Indru Watumull. Dr. Sue Wesselkamper's achievements were also celebrated through the YWCA Lifetime Achievement Award.

Each year at our annual LeaderLuncheon, the YWCA of O'ahu recognizes women leaders in our community. Since LeaderLuncheon's inception in 1977, we have honored over 125 of these amazing women and the contributions they have made to us all.
Our LeaderLuncheon theme this year is based on the principle that it takes a community to raise a leader. In turn, the leader raises the community. We hope you will help us celebrate the extraordinary accomplishments of our women leaders and let their stories serve as inspiration for women and girls for years to come.

One of my favorite Suzanne stories is when a few of us were out on the water and encountered several shark pups caught and killed in illegal fishing gear. All of us marine biologist-types wanted photos but were too chicken to get in the water to take them. While we were busy trying to come up with excuses for not getting in the water, Suzanne was donning her snorkel gear, getting in the water, and snapping away. Words and phrases such as “fearless”, “committed”, and “leading by example” come to mind quite readily…
