donations
What would you wear to a job interview? That is exactly what we are looking for to distribute to our clients. Your fabulous suits could give another woman the confidence to go out in to the working world, make a great first impression and land a job that could change her life.
To suit our clients in style, Dress for Success® Honolulu currently accepts new or nearly-new and cleaned:

coordinated, contemporary, interview-appropriate skirt and pant suits

beautiful crisp blouses

gorgeous blazers and jackets

professional shoes

jewelry

handbags
-
new undergarments

unused cosmetics

unused pantyhose
*We are particularly in need of larger-size suits*
Drop off your donation at the YWCA of O'ahu Front Desk, 1040 Richards Street, Honolulu (loading zone parking right in front of the building) any time 5am - 7pm, weekdays and 7am - 2pm on weekends.

volunteer opportunities
We need your time, enthusiasm and expertise! Here is a quick list of things you can do as a volunteer to help Dress for Success® Honolulu help more women.
Personal Shopper
We need energetic, positive people to help our clients look professional and feel confident. Personal Shoppers assist clients in selecting their outfits, giving impromptu interview and personal grooming tips and boosting their self-confidence.
Merchandiser
The merchandiser is another crucial volunteer position. Merchandising involves selecting from the donations of clothing
those items that are appropriate for professional attire and doing inventory control.
Tell Your Friends
It's easy, and incredibly rewarding, to get involved. The more people who volunteer, the more women we can help!

organize a suit drive
Suit Drives are coordinated campaigns to collect interview suits for donation to Dress for Success® Honolulu. Your office, professional organization, child's school, place of worship or other association might be ideas of places to start.
To organize a Suit Drive, you will need to:

Contact us and let us know that you are planning a Suit Drive.

Obtain the necessary approval from your company (or other organization) to conduct the Suit Drive.

Pick the dates of your Suit Drive. One day? A whole week? (We suggest you host your Suit Drive during
Send One Suit Week, which is held annually in March.)

Find co-workers or friends who will share the responsibilities. Don't run your Suit Drive alone!

Arrange for a moving or delivery service to pick up the donated items and bring them to the Laniākea YWCA.

Determine what type of budget you will need and raise the necessary funds. Typical costs might include
posters and balloons to promote the Suit Drive, moving or delivery services, etc.
- Plan to collect financial contributions. Suit Drives usually include financial contributions from the participants,
such as the host company and its employees. This also provides a great opportunity for men to take part in
the event.
- Determine how you will market your Suit Drive to generate awareness, volunteers and donations for the event.
