Wahine Forum Network Speaker Series

We are pleased to bring you the Wāhine Forum Network Speaker (WFN-SS), an extension of our signature Wāhine Forum Network.

The Wāhine Forum Network Speaker Series is made up of additional learning events that feature speakers and topics that are relevant to the YWCA of O'ahu's advocacy platform.

While the Wāhine Forum Network focused on themes related to business trends, business industries, and professional development opportunities for women, the Wāhine Forum Network Speaker Series will concentrate on the three main topics aligned with the YWCA of O'ahu's mission: advocacy, health & wellness, economic self-sufficiency.

Our First Speaker Series:
Women's History Month

We've come a long way, baby! (and there's no stopping us now!)

In celebration of the monumental advances that have been made to empower women, the YWCA of O'ahu held its 2012 Women's History Month Series as part of the Wāhine Forum Network Speaker Series at Laniākea.

The Women's History Month Series was comprised of five talk-story lunchtime sessions focused on significant issues that have shaped the history of women in this country: Women’s Reproductive Rights, Women’s Voting Rights, Title IX Compliance: Sexual Violence on College Campuses, Women in the Workplace, and Women in the Military.

This special series was co-sponsored by Hawaii Business Magazine and Hawaii State Commission on the Status of Women (HSCSW), and moderated by Stacy Yuen Hernandez and Jen Tadaki Catanzariti of Hawaii Business Magazine.

Each session offered both a historic perspective of the issue and an update on its current status. Led by local women leaders who are respected authorities on the issues, each session also featured a "call to action" for those interested in becoming more involved with the issue. Visit our Facebook page to view photos and video clips of the events.
