Intimate Partner Violence Prevention
|
The Family Violence Prevention Project strives to prevent intimate partner violence through trainings, community presentations, community organizing projects, and a countywide public awareness campaign. The goal of the Family Violence Prevention Project is to empower individual, neighborhoods, organizations, and systems-based structures to shift from a cultural norm that accepts intimate partner violence to a norm that promotes healthy and peaceful relationships. Intimate partner violence can affect anyone-regardless of race, age, sexual orientation, religion, gender, etc. And because it can affect anyone, it affects us all.

Preventing intimate partner violence doesn't have to be a complicated process. Sometimes all it means is increasing a person's "Protective Factors"-that's a jargon term that simply means to"make sure you and your family have some things in place and your chances of engaging in or being victims of family violence decrease." What are "Protective Factors"?
