About Winter 2012

Class Options
The Y-Dance program offers the following dance classes for children, teens and adults: Ballet/Jazz Fusion, Hip Hop and Tap. All classes are held at the YWCA, 605 N. 6^th Street, Lafayette. For most classes, minimum enrollment is four students. IMPORTANT:  Measurements will be taken for recital costumes the week of January 9-12 and ordered at the week’s end. (See recital information below.) Therefore, we cannot add to our enrollment after this date. The winter session for dance classes is 15 weeks, beginning January 16 running through May 3. There will be no classes during the week of March 26-29 for spring break.  Register by January 2 by calling 765-742-0075.

Ballet/Jazz Fusion (1-hour class for 15 weeks)    This session will focus on warm-up, flexibility, and ballet technical skills at the ballet barre and center floor, mixed with jazz movement. A recital routine will also be taught. 

Fusion Technique (Div. II 1 hour/Div. III 1.5 hours for 15 weeks)    A technique class is offered for dancers in Div. II and Div. III who want to focus and excel beyond the “recreational level.” (IE dancers who foresee themselves on dance teams, in musical theatre, auditions, etc.) This class is required for any dancer in advanced, recommended for dancers in intermediate and by invitation for beginning dancers.

 Hip Hop (45-minute class for 15 weeks)   This class focuses on strength and conditioning exercises as a basis for hip hop stunts and tricks as well as learning technique through new choreography. A recital routine will also be taught.  

Tap (30-minute class for 15 weeks)  This class focuses on basic tap technique. A recital routine will also be taught.  

Registration Fee & Tuition - Winter 2012 A $25 annual registration fee is required to take Y-Dance.  Tuition for this session of classes:  Fusion-$158                                        Div. II Technique- $105                          Div. III Technique-$158                          Hip Hop-$143                                      Tap-$113 Tuition and fees are non-refundable. Discounts for Multiple Children or Multiple Classes  You are welcome to take more than one class this session. Take the 2nd class at a 15% discount. If you have multiple children living in the same household and taking Y-Dance, receive a 15% discount for the other children. Please note: the discount does not apply to the Fusion Technique classes as they are already discounted.  OBSERVATION Observation dates are: January 16-19, February 6-9, March 5-8, April 2-5,       April 30-May 3.
