Help is at the YWCA
In every era, the YWCA stood for the right of women to be treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. Today we continue to put that commitment into action through a wide range of programs that reach thousands of women across the country. For many, these Hallmark Programs spell the difference between living out your life as a victim and stepping up to take responsibility for your own life.
"I was in the dark, now I am in the light," said one pregnant teenage high school dropout who recently joined the YWCA's Young Parent Program and is now on her way to college. She speaks for thousands of women who have come to the YWCA in pieces and left whole. But there are thousands more who don't know about the YWCA as a resource - training women seeking new job opportunities, providing childcare for working single mothers, serving as a potential lifesaver for victims of abuse-for anyone in search of practical skills, encouragement, and a friendly hug.
YWCA programs offer career counseling, sex education, support groups, shelters, breast cancer recovery groups, fitness classes, and more. The YWCA gives voice to women's concerns and needs throughout the United States and reaches women all around the world.
