emergency housing
The YWCA is the largest provider of domestic violence programs and shelters in the U.S., serving 700,000 women and children annually.
The YWCA believes that we can create a community where all women and children have a safe place to live. Many local YWCAs offer the following types of housing and shelter services.
-
Emergency Housing - time-limited housing for women, children and families.
-
Transitional Housing - housing for women, children and families who are working toward self-sufficiency, and preparing to move into permanent housing.
-
Permanent Housing - affordable rental housing.
In addition to helping prevent families from becoming homeless, the YWCA also provides programs to meet the special needs of homeless families, including services for domestic violence victims, access to affordable health care and respite care for homeless women recovering from serious illness.
Check with your local YWCA for more information.
