The YWCA Greater Baton Rouge is celebrating 40 wonderful years of service!
The YWCA Greater Baton Rouge was chartered in 1969 as the local affiliate of the YWCA USA. YWCA GBR programs are designed to achieve our mission of eliminating racism and empowering women. Our guiding conviction is that as individuals change, so might their families; and as families change, so might their communities. Our programs and services focus on four crucial areas: health care, education, social and racial justice, and women’s empowerment. We currently serve 11 parishes: East and West Baton Rouge, Livingston, Ascension, Iberville, East and West Feliciana, St. Helena, Pointe Coupee, St. James, and Tangipahoa.

February Connections Luncheon
Tuesday, February 9, 2010 (2nd Tues in Feb)
11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Guests: Dr. Nervin Fanous
Topic: Heart Disease and Women
Cost: $20
RSVP by Friday, February 8 at 10 a.m. by calling 225-383-0681 or at events@ywca-br.org
This luncheon gives professional women the chance to gather to exchange ideas, learn about topics relevant to their career and personal life, provide resources for advancement and, of course, to develop friendships. In observance of National Heart Month, this month’s guest speaker will be Dr. Nervin Fanous, the only female cardiothoracic surgeon in Baton Rouge, who will share with us why heart disease is the number one killer among women today and what we can do to protect ourselves.
We hope to see you on February 9!
