Project RISE

A newer initiative of the YWCA of Greater Baton Rouge, is a movement dedicated to Reaching women, Impacting their lives by Strengthening and Empowering them in the fight against HIV/AIDS!

Project RISE offers free educational HIV/AIDS services in East Baton Rouge, Iberville, East Feliciana and West Feliciana Parishes.  Striving to dispel the myths of the disease, Project RISE distributes factual educational material on HIV/AIDS through venues such as motivational speakers, small and large group facilitation and printed educational resources.

A pilot program, Project RISE is privately funded to provide free services to a targeted audience of African-American women.  Though primarily targeting African-American women, Project RISE accepts invitations to educate diverse audiences on HIV/AIDS.

Project RISE is funded in memory of Valerie Calvin, a victim of AIDS
