“You have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” These words from Harriet Tubman set the tone for the YWCA’s second annual YWomen Leadership Awards, as the capacity crowd of 300 at the Woman’s Club of Evanston on October 8th gathered to honor Dorothy Roberts, Pushpika Freitas, Ebony Joy and the Junior League of Evanston-North Shore. October 8, 2009 - YWCA honors Dorothy Roberts, Pushpika Freitas, Ebony Joy and Junior League at YWomen Leadership Awards
September 8, 2009 – Evanston Lighthouse Rotary Club presented the YWCA Evanston/North Shore with a check for $35,000 to renovate the kitchen at Mary Lou’s Place, our domestic violence shelter for women and their children. Thank you, Rotary!
July 7, 2009 - More than 3,500 turn out for Race Against Hate
May 26, 2009 - The Young Women's Leadership Board hosted "Spring into Summer,"a fundraising party with live music by Consortium and Canasta at SPACE in Evanston. The event netted over $1,700 for the YWCA. Thank you, YWLB!
