Submit a Nomination for the 2010 Outstanding Leader Awards!

YWCA Metropolitan Chicago invites you to nominate an outstanding woman or mentor to be recognized at our annual Leader Luncheon event. This year marks the 38th anniversary of the YWCA Leader Luncheon, which has previously recognized more than 350 professionals for their outstanding career achievements and work toward racial justice. 1. NOMINATION CATEGORIES

  • Business - Includes women in the business sector who make a significant contribution in their field.
  • Community Leadership - Includes professionals and volunteers in government, public service, politics, and community action.
     
  • Racial Justice - Given to a woman who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to promoting racial justice and has worked toward the elimination of racism. The Racial Justice Honoree must demonstrate a commitment to racial equality and the advocacy of fundamental rights for all races.
  • Professions - Includes women in the fields of medicine, law, education, science, engineering, nonprofit leadership, architecture or other fields which require professional accreditation in order to perform work in that field.
  • Promise - To reaffirm our commitment to young women and their importance to the future of the YWCA and our mission, the Promise Award was created in 2004. The nominee must be between the ages of 18 and 35. The award is given annually to a woman with sufficient community service and professional success to indicate her potential for extraordinary leadership and service.

2. ELIGIBILITY AND CRITERIA

All nominees:

  • Must be women who live or work in the Chicago metropolitan area. (The Mentor Award is open to men);
  • Must be able to attend and personally receive the award at Leader Luncheon on October 15, 2009;
  • Will attend a limited number of events with sponsors and volunteers;
  • Must represent an outstanding role model for women and girls;
  • Must embody excellence in her field of endeavor;
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to the elimination of racism and the empowerment of women.

4. SUBMITTING A NOMINATION
(Nominations must be received by March 5, 2010.)
