President - Joan L. Sharp
Joan is the founder and principal of Life Strategies, LLC a fee only based firm focusing on comprehensive financial direction. Joan is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP). Joan holds a Masters of Science in Financial Services (MSFS). She received her undergraduate degree in Economics from Southern Methodist University.
During the many careers she has been involved in the non-profit world: YMCA – Dallas and Delaware; Young Friends at the Virginia Museum of Art; SCAN(Stop Child Abuse Now – Richmond, VA); Preservation Delaware; DFRC; DCCA; Delaware Art Museum; YWCA and Christiana Care. She has also been involved with Professional organizations; Virginia Automatic Merchandising Association’s; Financial Planning Association; Society of Financial Service Professionals Delaware Chapter. Joan is also active in her church – Christ Church Christiana Hundred.
Vice President - Robalee Deike
Robbie is a Senior Learning Consultant in DuPont Corporate Human Resources, where she has worked with DuPont for over 25 years, at 9 different locations and in 5 separate businesses/functions. Her areas of expertise include leadership development, change, communications, diversity, and other personal development topics. She is currently involved in a large global outsourcing project.
Vice President - Evangeline D. Hawthorne
Evangeline Hawthorne is a Federal Investigator with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) for the Baltimore District Office. She has over ten years of experience investigating and settling complaints of employment discrimination on the state and federal levels. Evangeline received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/English from Rutgers University and a Master’s Degree (with a concentration in Public Administration) from Wilmington University.
Evangeline is committed to the YWCA’s mission to eliminate racism and empowering women in the community.
Vice President - Nancy McDonald
Nancy retired as a Senior Executive from Accenture, a technology and management consulting company. Prior to that, she worked at DuPont for 24 years and held various professional and managerial positions in information technology. For the last 2 years, she has been teaching information technology courses at Wilmington University.
Treasurer - Deneen Stewart. Esq.
Deneen is ING DIRECT USA’s General Counsel, Secretary and CRA Officer. Joining the Bank in spring of 2000, Deneen is a seasoned attorney with a diverse background in law, education and retail.
Secretary - Cathy Imburgia
Cathy has held the position of president of Creative Communications since establishing the full-service marketing and employee communications firm in 1993. Creative Communications is an award-winning Certified Women Business Enterprise (WBE) licensed and incorporated in the State of Delaware. Her work history includes more than 25 years of experience in corporate, nonprofit and government communications. Cathy has served as a communications advisor on various business and nonprofit committees and boards, including the New Castle County (Delaware) Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). She is most recently served as past president of the NAWBO Delaware Chapter and on the Board of Directions of the YWCA Delaware.
Assistant Treasurer - Maria A. Taylor
Maria Taylor retired in 2006 as Director of Public Affairs and Chief of Community Relations at the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC). Before joining DNREC in 2000, Taylor was Chief Administrative Officer at DART First State, where she supervised the marketing department and assisted with policy, communication and budget issues. From 1984 to 1996, Taylor was the Administrator of the Delaware Higher Education Loan Program, the state guarantee agency that works with private banks and the federal government to ensure that eligible students and parents could secure low cost loans for college.
Community activities over the years have included many parental positions in public and community schools programs, Girl Scouts, financial aid and transportation regional and national organizations. For the past few years, Taylor’s community activities have been focused on strengthening the Delaware Fund For Women, which supports programs that benefit women and girls in Delaware. Maria serves on the Fund For Women Advisory Committee and has just completed a two-year term as co-chair of the grants committee.
