YWCA FutureVision

The YWCA of Asheville is proud to offer a FREE teen program serving students ages 12-18: FutureVision. This program has been made possible through a Dropout Prevention Grant from the NC Department of Public Instruction. FutureVision is a comprehensive after school program and mentoring partnership designed to provide academic support and various career and social opportunities for middle and high school students.The FutureVision after school program’s main objective is assisting students through the school year and onto the next grade.

FutureVision After School offers: tutoring, computer skills, research assistance, project completion assistance, and general homework help after school for middle and high school students. FutureVision provides a unique mix of cultural, physical, social, and intellectual activities designed to meet the needs of our youth. Students are given input on the program. Activities raise self-esteem, increase problem solving skills, and broaden interests in a fun and inclusive manner.

In addition to the After School program, running Monday through Thursday from 3:00 – 6:00 pm, FutureVision provides a screened, well trained mentor to each willing participant. Mentors are committed to spend at least 8 hours a month in direct contact with their matched student and their activities will include enrichment/motivation outings, life-skills training, service learning projects, school support, frank discussions about the challenges of staying in school, job searches, etc. FutureVision collaborates with mentors to provide resources for activities.
