Responding to the Housing Needs of Women...
The YWCA Newton Residency for Women is a clean and safe environment, providing case management and other support services to assist residents in becoming self-sufficient, which can lead to permanent housing.
The Newton Residency offers residents an opportunity to develop at comfortable paces, develop skills for coping with life stresses, solving everyday problems and accessing resources in the community with staff support.
Housing women since 1908, the Newton Residency program is designed to bridge the gap from shelter to permanent housing for women. It offers a stable, healthy environment that is conducive to growth and development. The Newton Residency is unique because it offers women the means to independent transitional living. The maximum length of stay is 18 months.
To qualify, women must meet these eligibility guidelines:

Have no children in immediate care

Have income to meet expenses

Willing to work with program staff

Be able to live successfully with other women

Must provide proof of income

Assistance in Obtaining Permanent Housing
A case manager is assigned to each new resident to assist with developing an action plan that can enable the resident to accomplish goals. Residents are required to attend bi-weekly case management sessions to work on action plan and begin working toward self-sufficiency.

Centrally located near downtown Toledo, the YWCA is within easy access to major highways such as I-75, I-280, I-475, and the Anthony Wayne Trail.
The Newton Residency is near the downtown bus terminal as well as the local bus hub. Churches of many faiths are also nearby.
Moreover, the facility is only a short walk to the SeaGate Convention Centre, public library, and a post office as well as many city, state, and federal government offices.
