Corner Coffee Cafe In November 2003, the Corner Coffee Café, the first specialty coffee shop in downtown Kansas City, Kansas, opened for business.   The opening of the cafe helped to jump start the capital campaign and served as a catalyst for additional growth in the area.   The cafe is centrally located in the heart of the revitalization of downtown Kansas City, Kansas at a juncture between three neighborhoods:  the northeast, the historically African American neighborhood; Strawberry Hill, an older caucasion neighborhood with Bosnian and Croatian roots; and the downtown business district which includes traditional corporate entities and small Hispanic and Asian businesses.  Its customers reflect the diversity of the area and the café offers the type of meeting space that older downtown areas working to regain their vibrancy often need. The cafe offers a forum to reconnect the community fabric, celebrate the arts, and foster new relationships. After-hour gatherings and art receptions have already begun to create a synergy along the 6th Street Corridor.
