The YWCA of the Coulee Region began serving women and families in La Crosse in 1906. The services offered by the YWCA at that time included childcare, exercise, emergency shelters and leadership programming for young women and girls. Over time the YWCA has changed. The mission, however, remains the same: Eliminating Racism, Empowering Women

The Eleventh Annual National White Privilege Conference (WPC11) will be held on April 7th-10th 2010 at the La Crosse Center in downtown La Crosse, Wisconsin. Check out the WPC11 website for all the details-http://www.uccs.edu/~wpc/
Please spread the word to anyone who might be interested in attending. Most of all, we hope you personally take advantage of this very unique opportunity right in our own backyard. Attending this regional conference means you will have lower travel expenses and in tight budget times that is very significant.
WPC11 is for everyone including program participants, students, professional staff, board members, community members, organizational members, businesses, govermental agencies, faith-based groups, friends, family and so on. In addition, WPC11 offers a concurrent Youth Leadership Conference and Youth Institute especially designed for high school students.
The WPC11 host planning committee consists of 19 major cosponsoring organizations from across the region. The YWCA of the Coulee Region along with all other YWCA's in Wisconsin are proud co-sponsors of the conference. Contact Ruthann Schultz at 608 781-2783 x 223 or at raschultz@ywcalax.org with questions.
