Women's Resource Center (WRC)

Since the needs of women in the Yakima Valley are so varied, and accessing services for so many women is a challenge, the goal of the YWCA is to become a Women's Resource Center.  This center will offer a women one destination that will provide information and services to help meet their myriad of needs.  The YWCA wants to help empower women, to encourage and support their ability to be self-sufficient.

The Women's Resource Center is currently in the infancy stage.  The goal is for local non-profit agencies to use the facility for board meetings, special events, and group activities for all partnering agencies are available at one central location.

A community referral specialist will meets with all new clients at the Resource Center to assess their individual needs and ensure they are referred to the appropriate in-house agency who will address those needs.

A single mother and her family come to the Women’s Resource Center.  While there:

  • Her teenage daughter visits the WRC computer lab where she becomes excited about learning and is inspired to explore a career in information technology.
  • Her son attends his weekly club meeting where he develops skills that help him grow to be a productive adult while his mother attends the support group for single moms.
  • The mother attends a domestic violence support group where she learns she is not alone in her struggles while her children visit an on site counselor for help dealing with their traumatic experience.  And stops at the Y’s Boutique for some shopping and great deals.
  • Her oldest daughter picks up a Circle of Success Newborn Baby Packet so she can give her infant a strong start in life while her six-year-old child attends story time to improve his readiness to learn.  She can also take part in our Working Opportunities for Women program where she will get professional clothing for her upcoming job interview.

Your support is going to make this dream a reality!

YWCA, strengthening families in the Yakima Valley through collaboration.
