My name is Jennifer and I am a 32 year old cervical cancer survivor. I was diagnosed in July of 2008 after my annual exam came back with something unclear. After many years of good pap tests this was a big shock to me. When I heard the words that I had precancerous cells I freaked. I followed up with a colposcopy then coinization and learned it was indeed stage 1. Just this November I had a hysterectomy and removed the cancer. So far I am clear. Now I just need to get through the recovery of the hysterectomy and get control of my life back so I can move on. I am sad that I can not have children with my husband but happy that this disease was caught early and I am hear today that early detection does save lives. I am now one of them.

Orange County Cancer Services Partnership
Funded by the NYS Department of Health, The Center for Disease Control and Orange County United Way
The Orange County Cancer Services Partnership is a network of community-based organizations providing comprehensive breast and cervical screening services and follow-up care to under-income, underserved women between the ages of 18-65. Women over age 40 are able to get free mammograms. Women over age 18 also qualify for cervical screening. As of April 2008 the program is integrated with colorectal cancer screening provided for both uninsured men and women, ages 50 - 64, or for uninsured men and women over 21 who have a family history of colorectal cancer or who is symptomatic.
The Partnership has been working in Orange County since 1994 and includes the Orange County Department of Health, all major hospitals, clinical providers (e.g. Family Health Center in Newburgh, Alamo Migrant Clinic, Planned Parenthood, etc.), doctors, Cornell Cooperative Extension, American Cancer Society, Office of Aging, among others. The YWCA of Orange County serves as the coordinating agency and is responsible for the data collection and fiscal management. In serving women and, now men, from the entire county, OCCSP provides access to services that would not be possible without the commitment and cooperation of all involved partners.

Woman's Health Roundtable
The Women's Health Roundtable is an initiative to assess the health services available for women in Orange County and begin exploring how agencies providing those services can better coordinate efforts to reach all women with pressing health needs. Quarterly meetings will also provide a forum for program networking and strategy sharing among women's health service agencies and practitioners. A women's health resource and referral directory is currently being discussed and will be implemented soon.
