Standing up for Young Women and Young Women of Color at the Supreme Court

Right now, the state of Mississippi is working diligently to overturn Roe v. Wade and with it, the reproductive freedom of every person in this country. If successful, this generation would be the nation’s first in almost 50 years to come of age without the constitutional right to previability abortion care. We cannot let the Supreme Court turn back the clock to a time that no young woman in America today has ever known, nor should ever know. Upholding Mississippi’s ban will have devastating consequences for young women, especially young women of color.

Act Now

  • Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA)
  • Family Violence Prevention Services Act (FVPSA)
  • Childcare

The Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA) passed through the House of Representatives and awaits additional action. This critical and lifesaving legislation maintains the safety, resources, and protections that have been critical to all survivors, particularly women of color and other marginalized communities. The Senate STILL has not introduced a version of this reauthorization bill.

Join us and urge your Senators to stand with survivors by supporting full funding of VAWA today!

Take Action

Strong bipartisan legislation was recently introduced in the Senate to reauthorize the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA). FVPSA provides critical funding for programs and services that survivors of family, domestic, and dating violence rely on.

Join YWCA in supporting this important bill by urging your Senators to co-sponsor and pass FVPSA!

Act Now

Child care and early learning programs are – and will remain – essential for working families and our nation’s future economic recovery. The urgency to rebuild the childcare and early learning sector that includes retaining a skilled workforce to ensure an equitable, sustainable, childcare infrastructure is critical to meeting the needs of all women, families, and child care providers.

Join us and tell Congress: It’s time to support access to affordable, quality, childcare for all!
