About Week Without Violence

Every October during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, YWCA USA leads Week Without Violence (WWV), a national signature campaign that mobilizes communities to raise awareness, inspire action, and advance solutions to end gender-based violence.

In 2026, YWCA USA will shine a spotlight on a critical reality: young people are disproportionately impacted by intimate partner violence, sexual assault, grooming, and exploitation, yet their voices are often missing from conversations about prevention, healing, and systemic change. Through storytelling, education, and dialogue, Week Without Violence will create space for young people, survivors, advocates, and communities to come together to envision a future free from violence.

This year's campaign asks an essential question
What do young people need not only to survive violence, but to heal, rebuild, and thrive?

Featured Campaign Partner: WATCH YOU RISE

This year's campaign will be anchored by the documentary Watch You Rise, directed by Isabella Grace Cohn and produced by Marina Hunt and Elizabeth Woodward. The film explores the lasting impact of sexual violence across generations while offering a powerful examination of resilience, healing, and collective responsibility.

As part of Week Without Violence, YWCA USA will host a national virtual event on Oct. 20 at 3 p.m. featuring clips from the film and a live conversation with the filmmakers, creating opportunities for communities to explore critical questions about safety, justice, healing, and the systemic changes needed to end gender-based violence.

Watch You Rise focuses on the experiences of survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence and contains sensitive discussions of trauma, abuse, and recovery. Viewer discretion is advised.

About Watch You Rise

WATCH YOU RISE follows Isabella, a young filmmaker coming of age, as she pulls on a thread of sexual violence running through her and her peers lives that reshapes her relationship with her mother and sparks a deeply personal investigation into trauma, power, and the gray areas of consent. Isabella travels the country speaking to young people who reveal truths they've never spoken aloud. Youths share that sex education is failing us, existing pathways for coming forward feel inaccessible and unsafe, and people causing harm don’t exist in a vacuum; harmful behavior has a context, one which repeats and unfolds into itself. Alongside youth testimonies, an intergenerational perspective is brought in through interviews with Isabella's mother and adult experts, including psychologist and Epstein/Maxwell survivor, Annie Farmer. Experts support Isabella and her peers' questions about the roots of harm, inviting the audience to learn alongside Isabella and her peers in their journey of inquiry. A year into making the film, Isabella is sexually assaulted. She joins her peers, and together they relate to the layered realities of harm, silence, and shame in a world that rarely offers the tools for understanding cycles of sexual assault. Throughout it all, the mother-daughter relationship ebbs and flows, and builds a conversation that calls in those affected by sexual harm, particularly, youth, who are so rarely given the tools to navigate what they carry.
