Debbie Esparza

Debbie’s leadership is steeped in justice, equity and empowerment – and her legacy isn’t just about what she’s built, it’s about who she’s lifted.  She is a lifelong advocate for women, girls, people of color and the LGBTQIA+ communities.

She is a visionary leader who shows up with both heart and backbone. Her voice is strong and true; she is both compassionate and bold in advancing social justice.

Her commitment to the YWCA Mission of eliminating racism and empowering women spans nearly 3 decades.  Having first been appointed to the YWCA USA National Board in 1997, she learned to see the world through the lens of race and gender.  In 2022 she was elected to the Board by her peers and again in 2025.

Debbie’s dedication to the YWCA mission also included 7 years as CEO at YWCA Metropolitan Phoenix. Now, she is thrilled to have the opportunity to focus on the Movement as a whole in partnership with the Board and greater community.

Above all, Debbie brings her full self—her lived experience and authenticity—to every endeavor, sharing deep love, bright light, and abundant joy.
