Lori Carmona

CEO of YWCA Greater Los Angeles

Lori-Carmona

Lori Carmona is a lifelong advocate for justice, inclusion, and community impact. She currently serves as CEO of YWCA Greater Los Angeles, where she leads strategic initiatives to eliminate racism, empower women, and build equitable opportunities for all.

Her journey in service began as a teenager working summers at a local daycare, where caring for infants and toddlers sparked an appreciation for early childhood education and development, and an admiration for the YWCA staff who nurture children today. As a communications major in college, an internship with Easter Seals introduced her to the world of nonprofit work and fundraising— a path she followed with purpose in her roles at the American Heart Association and the March of Dimes.

Her leadership journey deepened when she became CEO of AbilityFirst, an organization supporting people with intellectual disabilities. During her 19-year tenure, she completed two successful capital campaigns totaling nearly $10M while advancing and championing inclusive, person-centered services.

As CEO of YWCA Greater Los Angeles, Lori is leading the organization toward a new 5-year vision to establish YWCA Greater Los Angeles as the model movement that facilitates self-empowerment for women, families, and sexual assault and domestic violence survivors through holistic, comprehensive care, economic possibilities, and community connection.

Lori lives in Pasadena, California with her husband, a psychotherapist serving survivors of domestic violence, and daughter, a nonprofit communications professional.
